Formed

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7 KJV

For five days, the Creator God had been speaking creation into existence and at the end of each day He declared what He had made was good. But on the sixth day of creation God’s approach transitions from speaking to forming.

God is now touching His creation—gently, intentionally and exquisitely forming Adam from the dirt. And then, in an even more intimate act, God breathes into His sculpture’s nostrils and he comes alive!

When the Lord God breathed His essence into the clay sculpture, it was the breath of lives. Yes, lives as in plural, but plural in the sense of the Trinity—three in one. The very nature of God Himself was blown into Adam. Literally, making him in the very image of God Himself.

Thus God made mankind alone, in all of His glorious creation, in the likeness of His image. And therefore, at the end of the sixth day, the Creator triumphantly declares that what He formed that day was not just good, but very good!
