God Hears
Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book! That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever! Job 19:23-24 KJV
Do you wonder if God listens? He does. Job was despairing more than he was praying. And yet God heard. He knows when we rise in the morning and when we sleep at night—and everything we do in between. God knows our thoughts afar off, before we even speak them.
Job was struggling. All he wanted was to converse and interact with God. Job’s friends were of no help or comfort to him in the anguish of his suffering. But God was.
In the end, God did respond to Job and they did interact. And I think of how special it was that God heard the outcry of his heart. God hears us. Job’s request that his words were written and printed in a book was answered. And not just any book, but The Eternal Book.
NOTE: When Job spoke of “the rock,” he prophetically referenced Christ Himself, the Rock of Ages, the eternal Word of God.
